As part of the government effort to boost its historic flagship programs like: Planting for Food and Jobs( PFJ), Planting for Export and Rural Development( PERD) to enhance Agriculture which is the back bone of the economy, Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly in the Ashanti region led by DCE Hon Nana Okyere Tawiah Antwi , Co-ordinating Director Mr Andrews Mensah and the Assembly at large have empowered 50 farmers in the area with 4000 free coconut seedlings .
The coconut seedlings distributed worth Gh35,000 cedis ( old 350 million cedis) to create worth for their folks.
The DCE Hon Nana OKyere Tawiah Antwi commended the government for the flagship program which has increased food security in the country and also logistics given to all Agriculture Department nationwide.
In an interview with Mr J.K. Anim , the District Agric Officer , some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the government and the Assembly for the free distribution of the coconut seedlings and they promised to make good use of the seedlings by planting them in their farms.
