The Member of Parliament for Berekum East Constituency, Hon Nelson Kwaku Kyeremeh has donated mathematical sets and pens to Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates of public schools in the Berekum East municipality ahead of their upcoming exams taking place this week.
During the presentation, Mr Nelson Kyeremeh said: ‘Pen is mightier than swords ’quoted from Edward Bulwer-Lytton …his hope for all the candidates in the municipality to pass the exams and enjoy the free Senior High School policy introduced by the NPP government is still alive and he also re-echoed his promise of the package of Ghs1,000 , one student mattress, a chop box for best performing students with single digit aggregate. He believes this Ghc1,000 cash donation from his outfit will help relieve their parents from financial burdens.
In receiving the donated items, the various headmasters and headmistress in the Municipality thanked Hon. Nelson Kyeremeh for his donations.
Hon. Nelson Kyeremh and his team took the opportunity to advise parents to instil discipline in their children especially during this time that they are writing their exams.
He asserted that in this challenging time and in this competitive world, education is the key and the way to go.
The Assistant headmistress of Yiadom Boakye Demonstration 'B' , Mrs Comfort Amankwaa, who spoke on behalf of the BECE candidates, showed their appreciation, and also challenged the lawmaker to get prepared because there would be more single digit aggregates this year.
The number of pens and mathematical sets donated were estimated to be around 1,606 and this reflects the number of students registered for this year BECE in the Berekum East Municipality.
The MP also added that arrangements , in his part , have been made to ensure that Berekum students get better grades and progress to the next level of education and he believes, one day, there will be a chance where a president of the republic will be a product of one of the schools in the Berekum municipality.
